About Hippopotamus School
Philosophy
Hippopotamus School is a small, in-home, Montessori-based preschool for early learners ages 3 - 6 years old. Along with social and academic lessons catered to the child, Hippopotamus School offers group culture and diversity lessons while encouraging children to be mindful and kind caring for themselves, their friends and the world around them.
Using Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy, Hippopotamus School nurtures the child's emotional, social and academic development while building their confidence and independence preparing them for kindergarten and beyond.
Hippopotamus School supports many different organizations by raising funds, awareness or goods while promoting inclusion and acceptance.
Organizations we have supported: The Autism Society of Greater Phoenix, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Adult Congenital Heart Association, Surprise City Firefighters Annual Toy Drive, Eve's Place, Phoenix Rescue Mission, CJD Foundation for Creutzfeldt-Jakob's Disease and Toys for Tots. We believe that "Love is an Action Word" and showing our students that participating in activities, devoted to showing love for their community, will encourage a lifetime of giving and thoughtfulness.
